Nagasaki University held a launching ceremony for the DEJIMA Infectious Disease Research Alliance and the National Research Center for the Control and Prevention of Infectious Diseases.

On Monday, September 26, the University held a launching ceremony for the DEJIMA Infectious Disease Research Alliance (DEJIMA ID Alliance) and the National Research Center for the Control and Prevention of Infectious Diseases (CCPID). After President Prof. Kohno delivered the ceremonial address, Vice Minister Mr. Ide of MEXT, Governor Mr. Oishi of Nagasaki Prefecture, and Mayor Taue of Nagasaki City delivered congratulatory speeches.
At the ceremony, Prof. Morita, Director of the DEJIMA ID Alliance, and Dr. Yanagi, Director of the CCPID, introduced their respective organizations and explained their prospects, after which Dr. Aikichi Iwamoto, Director of the Office of Research and Development Supervision and Promotion, Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development and Special Assistant to the President (Special Ambassador to AMED: Infectious Disease Research Field), gave a commemorative lecture titled “Let’s Break the Octopus and Set Sail for the Accelerating World.”
